Free Disposal for Wallingford Residents:

  • Brush - Less than 6 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length. Use the designated area.
  • Leaves - Use the designated area. No plastic bags.
  • Christmas Trees - Cleaned of all ornamentation.

A fee will be charged for oversized tree limbs and logs (see fee schedule below).

Landscapers (and residents driving commercial vehicles or vehicles larger than a personal car or pick-up truck) may deliver leaves free of charge if accompanied by the completed Registration Form certifying the materials are from Wallingford households.

All other commercial vehicles will be charged a fee according to the Operator's fee schedule. Compost, mulch and topsoil are available for a fee. See the current fee schedule or contact the site operator.

Unacceptable Items:

  • NO plastic bags
  • NO lumber or treated, painted or rotted wood
  • NO grass clippings
  • NO soil
  • NO other items such as garden waste, garbage, metal, concrete, tires, cardboard, rocks, stumps, etc.

Don’t Bag Your Grass

Retire your lawn mower bag! You never have to use it again. You can have a green and healthy lawn without having to remove your grass clippings from the lawn.

Clippings left on your lawn do not cause thatch. In fact, the clippings are a fertilizer containing approximately 5% Nitrogen, ½% Phosphorus, 2% Potassium and small amounts of other essential plant nutrients. Clippings are a truly organic fertilizer.

To have a beautiful lawn using grass clippings as a natural fertilizer, simply remove the bag from your mower and do the following:

  • Mow as needed.
  • Use a mulching mower.
  • Do not over water.
  • Do not over fertilize.

Residential Composting: Grass clippings can be added to your household compost bin but is not allowed in your trash or at the Compost Center. Compost bins with composting instructions are available at garden supply stores.
